Replacement Windows

Energy-efficient replacement windows from Andersen, ViWinTech and PerfeXion — most homes done in a day.

901-760-7599

Old windows cost you twice — once on the power bill every month, and again in comfort, with rooms that never quite hold temperature and sashes painted shut or broken open. Replacing them is one of the few exterior projects you feel immediately.

We carry three manufacturers so the window gets matched to the house and the budget rather than the other way around: Andersen, ViWinTech and PerfeXion. Most homes are measured, removed and installed inside a single day.

Three brands, not one pitch

Andersen for wood and Fibrex composite, ViWinTech and PerfeXion for vinyl. We spec what fits the opening, the style and the number.

Low-E argon glass

The coating reflects radiant heat back where it came from and the argon fill slows what gets through — the two things that actually move a Memphis power bill.

Most homes, one day

Measured in advance and built to your openings, so install day is removal and fitting, not fabrication.

Exteriors are already our trade

Roof-to-wall transitions and window openings are the same water problem. One company owns the outcome — one warranty, one phone number, no finger-pointing.

Replacement Windows questions

How long does a whole-home window replacement take?

Most Mid-South homes are done in a single day. Your windows are built to your measurements before we arrive, so install day is removal and fitting rather than fabrication. Large homes, high window counts, or full-frame replacements can run into a second day — we will tell you which before we start.

Single hung or double hung — which should I get?

Double hung sashes both tilt inward so you can clean the outside glass from inside the room, which is worth the extra cost upstairs. Single hung costs less and is fine on ground-floor openings you can reach from outside. Plenty of our customers mix the two by floor.

Is vinyl as good as wood?

For energy performance, largely yes — most of that comes from the Low-E coating and argon fill in the glass, not the frame. Wood wins on interior appearance and the ability to stain or repaint it. Fibrex sits between them, with narrower frames and more glass in the same opening.

What happens if the glass breaks?

On the PerfeXion vinyl line, accidental glass breakage is covered for 25 years — a clause most manufacturers leave out entirely. Andersen and ViWinTech handle breakage on their own terms, so ask which line you are being quoted before assuming it is covered.

Do you replace just one window?

Yes. No project minimum — plenty of customers start with one broken or painted-shut window and call us back for the rest later.

One job, start to finish

Failed wood sashes with the glass broken out, replaced with double-pane units in the original brick openings.

After — trimmed, sealed and cleaned up

Single hung vs. double hung

The difference is which sashes move. It changes cost, cleaning and airflow — and for most houses there is a clear right answer per floor.

Single hung

Lower cost

  • Bottom sash slides up; the top sash is fixed.
  • Costs less than the same window as a double hung — the usual choice when you are doing a whole house at once.
  • Fewer moving parts and one less moving seal.
  • Best on ground-floor openings you can reach from outside to clean.

Double hung

Easier to live with

  • Both sashes slide, and both tilt inward so you can clean the outside glass from inside the room.
  • Open the top and bottom together and the room ventilates by convection instead of just blowing air at you.
  • Costs more per opening.
  • Worth it upstairs, where cleaning the outside of the glass otherwise means a ladder.

Wood, Fibrex or vinyl

Three materials, and we carry a brand in each — so this is a real choice rather than whichever one line we happen to sell. Any series Andersen builds, we can order.

Wood

Andersen 400 & A-Series

  • Real wood on the interior, weather-resistant cladding outside.
  • The only option you can stain or repaint to match trim later.
  • Highest cost of the three, and the interior wants occasional attention.
  • The right call on historic homes and anywhere the interior trim is the point.

Fibrex composite

Andersen 100 Series

  • Andersen's composite of reclaimed wood fibre and polymer.
  • Stronger than vinyl, so the frames are narrower and you get more glass in the same rough opening.
  • Holds dark exterior colours that would be a risk in vinyl.
  • Sits between vinyl and wood on price.

Vinyl

ViWinTech & PerfeXion

  • Best value per opening, and nothing to paint, ever.
  • ViWinTech builds in Paducah, Kentucky — about two and a half hours from Memphis.
  • PerfeXion by Norandex carries a Double-Lifetime limited warranty plus 25 years on accidental glass breakage, and it transfers if you sell.
  • The volume choice for a whole-house replacement.

Grids, or no grids

Grids — grilles, or muntins if you want the old word — are the dividers inside the glass. There is no performance answer here; it is purely how the house should read from the curb.

Grids suit colonials, farmhouses and most traditional Mid-South brick. They break up a large pane and echo the era the house was built in. Going gridless gives you more view, more light and a cleaner modern line, and there is simply less to look at when the glass is dirty.

A common split is grids on the street-facing elevations and none on the back, which keeps the curb appeal and buys you the open view where you actually sit. If your windows have grids now, put them side by side before you decide — most people are surprised how different the house looks without them.

The glass does most of the work

Two things separate a modern window from the one you are replacing, and neither is the frame.

Low-E is a metallic coating on the glass, far too thin to see, that reflects radiant heat back toward its source. In a Memphis July that means solar heat bounces off instead of loading your air conditioner; in January it means the heat you paid for stays in the room. Argon is an inert gas, denser than air, sealed between the panes — it conducts heat far more slowly than the air it replaces.

Together they are what move the numbers on an ENERGY STAR label. Frame material barely registers by comparison, which is why a well-specified vinyl window can outperform a badly specified wood one.

Most homes, one day

Your windows are measured and ordered to your exact openings before install day, so the crew arrives with finished units rather than building anything on site. For a typical Mid-South home that means removal, fitting, sealing and trim in a single day.

Larger houses, high window counts, and full-frame replacements where the old frame comes out down to the stud can run into a second day. You will know which one you are before we start.

Inside, we work room by room so the house is never fully open, and the old units and packaging leave with us.

Warranty

Every window we install carries its manufacturer's warranty, and our workmanship is warranted separately — the install is on us, the product is on them, and you are not refereeing between the two.

PerfeXion is the strongest of the three on paper. Norandex covers the vinyl, hardware, screens and insulated glass under a Double-Lifetime limited warranty, and adds 25 years of accidental glass-breakage coverage — the clause most manufacturers leave out entirely. It transfers to the next owner, subject to Norandex's terms, which is worth knowing if you might sell inside a decade.

Andersen and ViWinTech warrant their windows on their own terms. We will put the exact coverage for the line you choose in writing with your quote, before you commit to anything.
